Maxon has launched Cinema 4D 2025.1, the latest release of its premier 3D software for motion graphics, VFX, and visualization professionals.This update introduces significant advancements, particularly in the Boolean modeling system, enhancing both the speed and stability of Boolean operations. It also enables the creation of more intricate Boolean hierarchies. Additionally, the simulation toolset has been upgraded with new features, including the Particle Node Modifier, along with improvements to Scene Nodes, animation tools, and USD workflows.

Modeling Enhancements
The Boolean generator workflow has been optimized for greater speed and power, especially when working with Boolean animations. Unlike the previous Boolean object, which only supported two input objects, the new generator allows for an unlimited number of inputs, enabling the creation of more complex geometries. Nested hierarchies of Boolean operations can be built using multiple groups and generators, and properties such as UVs and colors, as well as vertex, edge, and polygon selections, are preserved throughout the process.

Simulation Tools
The Collision Noise feature introduces unique random vectors for each scene’s contact and bounce feedback, enhancing collision behavior. The new motion constraint on contact helps reduce intersection issues by preventing unwanted motion in fixed constraints. Additionally, Collision Priority enables users to prioritize between colliders and dynamic objects, offering more precise control with new resolution methods.

The MoGraph matrix has been updated to synchronize with the simulated positions of solids. The "thickness" attribute is now renamed the "search radius," which defines the collision detection area.
Pyro Enhancements
The Pyro toolkit for smoke and fire simulations introduces an “Out of Core” storage option, allowing larger simulations by leveraging additional GPU memory. New controls for Ambient Temperature, pressure, vorticity, and turbulence have also been added, providing greater flexibility in simulating realistic fire and smoke dynamics.

Particle System Improvements
System properties for particles are now displayed in the Simulation Scene Settings. Users can define custom particle properties for emitters and modifiers. These custom properties generate data outputs that are displayed under the Custom tab in the Emitter object, allowing for more detailed control over particle behavior.

Animation and Rendering Improvements
The update brings several workflow enhancements, including the ability to copy and paste data in the PowerSlider, similar to the Timeline. The Tween Tool now offers a Global Space Mode, and IK tags support the “Rotate to Goal” option, which improves stability by allowing the first bone in a chain to rotate toward the target.

New rendering options include Render Ranges, which enable users to specify a set of frames for rendering, and Custom Frames, which support multiple individual ranges. Cinema 4D will now check for existing frames before rendering to prevent unnecessary re-rendering.
Scene Nodes System Updates
The Scene Nodes system now supports the use of child or linked objects as generators, making it easier to create custom meshes or spline generators. New features include Geometry by Type and Geometry Info buttons, along with updates to existing options. The Set Points Value now allows for centering points relative to the bounding box of selected points, while the Noise Modifier introduces support for spline offsets and comparative noise scaling.

USD Workflow Enhancements
Cinema 4D’s USD workflow has been expanded to support the import of character animations, including joint hierarchy and skin weights. It now also includes the ability to import and export certain camera and lighting settings. The introduction of the modern XRS system improves speed and stability, enhancing collaborative workflows and ensuring efficient scene management.
