The software developer Chaos has announced that its dynamics simulator, Phoenix is now available, as one single product, for 3D animation and modeling software 3ds Max and Maya. Scroll down for more.

| About Phoenix

Formerly known as Phoenix FD, Chaos® Phoenix is a fluid simulation software that is capable of a wide range of fluid dynamic such as fire, smoke, liquids, flames, explosions, ocean waves and so on.

Phoenix Showcase

The latest version of the software is Phoenix 4.41.00. In addition to the new support for the FLIP liquid Adaptive Grid to expand based on a combination of particle channels, some improvements and bug fixes are added based on the last main version, Phoenix 4.40.00.

Now with Phoenix, users may enjoy several new features that updated in version 4, update 4, including collision between Active Bodies collision, a color absorption, a Massive Wave Force and extended motion blur support on V-Ray GPU.

The new Bullet solver for its simulating interactions system Active Bodies gives uses complete control over collisions between scene objects, simulating floating bodies more accurately, allowing users to create effects like colliding ice cubes in liquid, floating ocean debris or objects washed away in floods easily.

For simulations of gaseous fluids like smoke, new Absorption settings in the volumetric rendering options make it possible to control the color of shadows and the tint of objects seen through the volume.

For wave simulation in liquid surface, the Massive Wave Force option to Phoenix’s Wave Force component is a good choice. Users have relatively accurate control over the volume and form of the simulation to generate not only wave but also surface foam and spray.

| Integration

According to the new announcement made by Chaos lately, Phoenix has now been integrated with both 3ds Max and Maya, allowing users to create realistic and customizable fluid dynamics simulations more easily.

Phoneix for 3ds Max & Maya

With the combination of Phoenix for 3dsMax and Phoenix for Maya into Chaos Phoenix, user may enjoy preview and render interactively in the viewport and fine-tune simulations on the fly.

Chaos Phoenix is available for 64-bit 3ds Max 2018+ on Windows 7+ and Maya 2018+ on Windows 7+ and Linux only. For more information, please visit its official product page.
