A new animation festival that launched by Matilde Rodríguez and Alberto Vázquez, the Imaxinaria Aniamtion Festival, is going to have its first edition kicking off in Galicia in the northwest of Spain on the 10th of this month.
About the promoters of this event, Matilde Rodríguez, is curator of the International Contemporary Illustration Showcase (MiiC), and Alberto Vázquez (Birdboy: The Forgotten Children, Unicorn Wars and Birdboy), is a writer and director who has won numerous national and international awards.
According to the introduction from the official website, the Imaxinaria Animation Festival is intending to “promote and make less commercial audiovisual animation known to the general public, and also working as a meeting point for professionals in the sector, where Galicia has a long and renowned innovative tradition”.
The animation festival program consists of an Official Section where a total of 50 short compete in 6 blocks (5 for adult and 1 for family). The shorts will premiere in both Spain (10) and Galicia (30), and winners from across the competition will split €4,00 0 in cash prizes. You may click here to know about all the entries.
