Autodesk has released the latest version of its 3D modeling and rendering software, 3ds Max 2023.1. Take a look at some of the highlights of this update with XRender!
The update was released 15 Jun. 2022, like always, together with Autodesk’s 3D modeling and animation software, Maya 2032.1. Highlights including a new Spline extrusion tool in the viewport, improve TurboSmooth Modifier, Morpher Modifier, Chamfer, Smart Extrude and more. Take a look!
| Improvement for Modeling, Textures and Animation
In 3ds Max 2023.1, many tools that help to optimize the modeling process have been improved or added, including a new spline extrusion that allows uses to extrude or extend segments and spline vertices “on any Line, Editable Spline, or Edit Spline modified object directly from the Viewport”.
Smart Extrude, Chamfer and TurboSmooth all get updated in the new version. With the introduction of an improved algorithms, Smart Extrude system can now generate new faces and handle relationships between associated faces more intelligently.
Chamfer gets an enhanced retriangulation algorithm for more predictable results and the TurboSmooth is said to be improved to speed up subdivision surface modeling and look dev workflows up to “2x”.
In addition to the modeling tool improvement, both Skin Modifier and the Morpher Modifier have been enhanced to benefit the reviewing and iterating upon work.
| Improve Material Library, Add Zoom Selection Option and More
The Material Library is adding support and forward compatibility to save new or changed ones to previous versions (from 2020 to 2023) via the new "Save as type" option.
In addition, a new zoom selection tool that enables to “isolate the selected objects in the scene and perform a Zoom Extents Selection on the result”.
