| Violent Night (Dec. 2ed, Theater)

Violent Night

Premiered last Friday (Dec. 2), "Violent Night" entertained viewers with a different, grumpy Santa Claus starring David Harbor (Black Widow, Stranger Things series). According to the data from Box Office Mojo, the film received a total worldwide gross of $20,355,000, a 70% tomato meter and 90% audience score (data source comes from Rotten Tomatoes).

The horror action comedy tells how the former Viking warrior, current Santa Claus saving a wealthy family who have been taking hostages by a team of mercenaries on Christmas Eve. The increasingly pitched and bloody battle may not feel like the stereotype Christmas, but all the laughter, cheers and oohs may just what needed.

Scrooge: A Christmas Carol is a supernatural, time-travelling, musical adaptation of Charles Dickens's cult Christmas story, A Christmas Carol. In Prose. Being a Ghost Story of Christmas, commonly known as A Christmas Carol.

The story has been adapted many times for film, stage, opera and other media, but with Jessie Buckley, Olivia Colman, Luke Evans voicing, together with the subtle use of music to add fun twist to the traditional Scrooge story, this new version worth a try. The film was released last Friday (Dec 2) and is now available on Netflix.

| The Three Body Problem (Dec. 3, Bilibili, delayed)

The Three Body Problem

As we introduced before, based on the information learned from the 5th Chinese animation conference organized by Bilibili, the animation series that adapted from Liu Cixin’s Hugo-winning sci-fi trilogy, The Three-Body Problem, was originally planned to be officially broadcast on December 3rd on the video platform Bilibili.

However, on December 2, The Three-Body announced via its official account on Weibo (one of China's largest social media platforms) that it will temporarily postpone the original planned release date of the work (December 3), and the specific broadcast date is yet to be determined. You may stay tuned with XRender and we will update the latest information about the release date as soon as it is announced.

Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio

Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio is a stop-motion animated musical fantasy film. The new version is based on Gris Grimly's design from his 2002 edition of the 1883 Italian novel The Adventures of Pinocchio by Carlo Collodi and is directed by the horror maestro Guillermo del Toro and Mark Gustafson from a screenplay by del Toro and Patrick McHale. So different from the sweet old version, you may find a completely different Pinocchio in a familiar plot.

The film had its world premiere at the BFI London Film Festival on October 15, 2022, and was released in select cinemas on November 9, 2022. For those who are interested you may find it available on Netflix, December 9.

See the world-famous detective Benoit Blanc heads to Greece to peel back the layers of a mystery surrounding a tech billionaire and his eclectic crew of friends on December 23 on Netfilx!


| The Witcher: Blood Origin (Dec. 25, Netflix)

Taking place in the elven Golden Era, 1200 years before the time of Geralt, Yennefer and Ciri, The Witcher: Blood Origin tells the story of seven strangers who join together to fight an unstoppable empire. Though they hail from warring clans, Éile and Fjall must learn to trust one another if they have any hope of leading this band of outcasts on their quest to topple the Continent’s oppressors. But, when gateways to other worlds are opened and a power-hungry sage unleashes a new weapon, the Seven realize they must create a monster in order to defeat one. The series will stream on Netflix from December 25. Don't forget to add to your watch list!
